Mauro Franchino farms 3 hectares of vines in Gattinara, the most famous of the several appellations that conforms the "Alto Piemonte". Franchino's production is minuscule, 630 cases per year including 130 of Coste di Sesia, all made form Nebbiolo. his farming is traditional, basically non certified organic. The wine is light in color, intense in aromas of red currant, tar and a hint of rose . This is an old fashioned wine that rewards the patience of those who wait several years to drink it.
