Jean-Michel Stephan is the student of Jules Chavet, the father of France's natural winemaking movement, and he trained with Guigal. Here, is classic Cote-Rotie is made of 90% syrah and 10% Viognier from Tupin. The soil is granite-like gneiss with white mica (Cote Blonde). He then ages the wine for 16 to 22 months in mix of new, used and two-year old oak barrels. Bold with blackberry and fig.
